Wide Text Generator

Make your text take up more room — either with real full-width characters or with spacing inserted between letters. Both approaches are generated together so you can compare.

Wide Text Generator

Tap Copy next to any style, then paste it into Instagram, TikTok, Discord or anywhere else.

How to use it

1

Type your text — enter it once in the box at the top.

2

Pick a style you like — every style updates live as you type.

3

Tap Copy — then paste it into your bio, caption, username or message.

Two ways to widen text

Spaced out (W i d e) inserts a real space between every character. It works on absolutely every device because it uses nothing but ordinary letters and spaces. The catch: some platforms collapse repeated whitespace, and screen readers may announce each letter separately.

Full width (Wide) uses different Unicode characters that are drawn at the width of a Japanese character. The spacing is part of the character, so nothing can strip or collapse it — but a device without those glyphs shows boxes.

Which to pick: full width for social media and modern devices, spaced out when you need guaranteed compatibility or are pasting somewhere unusual.

Where wide text works

Where you paste itResult
Instagram bio & captionsWorks — one of the most common uses of Unicode fonts
TikTok bio & captionsWorks, including in the display name
X / TwitterWorks in posts, bio and display name
DiscordWorks in messages, nicknames and channel topics
FacebookWorks in posts and comments; names are filtered
YouTubeWorks in titles, descriptions and comments
WhatsApp / TelegramWorks in messages and profile names
LinkedInWorks, but think hard before using it on a professional profile
Google / Word documentsWorks, though the characters ignore your chosen font

Where widening helps

  • Standing out in a feed — wide text occupies more vertical space and interrupts the scroll.
  • Headings in a bio — a wide word makes a natural divider between sections.
  • Music and art titles — the spacing reads as deliberate and design-led.
  • Retro computing references — full-width letters look like an old terminal.
  • Slowing the reader down — spacing forces a pause, which suits a short statement.

Keep it to a few words. Wide text is a display effect, and a full sentence quickly becomes tiring and eats through character limits.

How it works under the hood

Why this is not really a font

Nothing here installs or downloads a font. These are separate Unicode characters that happen to look like styled versions of the Latin alphabet. Most of them live in the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, added so that a mathematician could write a bold vector and an italic variable and have the distinction survive in plain text.

Because they are characters rather than formatting, they travel anywhere text travels — including places that strip formatting entirely, like an Instagram bio or a Discord nickname. That is the whole trick.

Things to know before you commit

The trade-offs worth knowing

  • Search engines and site search may not match it. To a computer, 𝓱𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓸 is not the word hello. Keep your searchable text plain.
  • Screen readers handle it badly. Many announce the characters one by one or skip them, so avoid styling text that carries important information.
  • Some fonts lack the glyphs. Where a device has no glyph you get a box (□). Coverage is very good on modern phones and desktops, weaker on older devices and some smart TVs.
  • A few platforms filter it from names. Facebook and some games restrict which characters may appear in a real-name field.

None of that matters for a bio, a caption or a username. All of it matters for body text, headings on your own website, or anything you want found in search.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make text wider?

Type it above and copy either the spaced-out version or the full-width version, depending on how much compatibility you need.

Why does spacing sometimes disappear?

Some platforms collapse repeated spaces. Use the full-width style instead, since its width is part of the character.

Is wide text the same as vaporwave text?

Full-width text is the core of the vaporwave look. Wide text is the broader idea, including manual spacing.

Does wide text work in usernames?

Yes on most platforms, but it uses up character limits quickly.

Will screen readers read it correctly?

Spaced text may be read letter by letter. Full-width characters are usually mapped back to normal letters, so they read better.

Are there wide numbers?

Yes, full-width digits 0 to 9 are included.
