Terms of use

Last updated: 8 August 2026

By using zalgo-text.org you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

Use of the tools

The generators are provided free of charge for personal and commercial use. Text you create with them is yours — we claim no rights over anything you generate, and you do not need to credit this site.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use this site to:

  • Harass, impersonate or deceive anyone.
  • Evade moderation, word filters or safety systems on other platforms.
  • Disrupt services by flooding them with corrupted text.
  • Break the rules of any platform you paste the output into.

Styled text is a design tool. Using it to make abuse harder to detect is a misuse of it, and we do not support it.

Intellectual property

The site design, written content and code are owned by zalgo-text.org unless otherwise stated. You may quote short excerpts with a link back, but reproducing whole pages or republishing the tools requires written permission.

The Unicode characters themselves are part of an open international standard and are not owned by anyone.

No warranty

The site is provided “as is”. We work hard on accuracy but do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every character will render correctly on every device — character support depends on fonts we do not control.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, zalgo-text.org is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of this site or reliance on its output. You use it at your own risk.

Third-party links and ads

We link to external sites and display third-party advertising. We do not control that content and are not responsible for it.

What we do not collect

Worth repeating inside the terms rather than only in the privacy policy, because it changes what these terms can even cover: the text you type into any generator on this site is processed entirely inside your own browser. It is not transmitted to a server, not logged, and not retained. There is no account system, no saved history and no way for us to see what you generated.

That means there is nothing for us to hand over, sell or lose in a breach, and it also means we cannot recover anything for you. If you close the tab without copying your output, it is gone.

Availability and changes to the tools

Generators may be added, changed or removed. A style that exists today may be renamed if the Unicode block behind it turns out to be described inaccurately, or retired if it depends on characters that render poorly on most modern devices.

We do not guarantee that a URL will keep pointing at the same tool forever, though in practice we redirect rather than delete. The site is offered free of charge and carries no service-level commitment of any kind.

Automated access

You may not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other visitors, and you may not repackage the generators as your own service. Reading the pages with a normal browser, saving output for your own use and linking to any page here are all explicitly fine and need no permission.

If you want to build something on top of the character mappings, the underlying Unicode data is public and freely available from the Unicode Consortium — start there rather than from our JavaScript.

Governing principles

Where these terms are silent, the reasonable-use standard applies: treat the site the way you would want your own free tool treated. Nothing in these terms is intended to remove any right you have under the consumer-protection law of your own country, and where a clause here conflicts with a right you cannot waive, that right wins and the rest of the terms continue to apply.

Changes

These terms may be updated at any time. The date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be reflected in that date rather than announced separately, so check it if the terms matter to your use of the site.
